Japanese stocks jumped, with the Nikkei Average up 0.4% after carrying a loss of 0.5% in early afternoon trade. Meanwhile, the dollar has risen about a 1/10th of yen to ¥101.50 from ¥101.39 earlier.
The gains came after the comments made by the Bank of Japan board member Takahide Kiuchi, seen as a hawkish voice at the central bank. Kiuchi told a gathering of business leaders that the BOJ shouldn’t continue it massive easing policy indefinitely and should be careful of further steps.
