The U.S. stock market opened higher on Thursday, the pair of upbeat economic reports, which showed a surprise drop in a number of people claiming unemployment benefits and a uptick in retails sales in February. Investors remain wary of downbeat data from China and ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine. The S&P 500 opened 4 points, or 0.2%, higher at 1,872.42. The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened up 42 points, or 0.3%, to 16,381.29. The Nasdaq Composite began the day 15 points, or 0.4%, higher at 4,338.09.
